Megan Slater, Artist and Manager

BIO/DESCRIPTION
Megan Slater is a multidisciplinary artist, musician and artist manager based in Calgary, Alberta.
Originally hailing from a very small town on the Canadian prairies, Megan moved to Calgary in 2009 to attend AU Arts and fell in love with the punk scene shortly after. What started out as a casual love for the scene quickly turned into managing bands, making music and promoting shows all over Western Canada for well over a decade now.
Being a self-taught musician and artist manager gives Megan a unique insight into the realities of being a small act wanting to travel and play music to new audiences. They have learned – and continue to learn – through experience, passing on their knowledge when they can.
Megan currently plays drums in Harsh and Soft Pet. They are a mentor at BAM! Camp Calgary, a week long band camp for queer youth and girls, and was recently a guest mentor at The National Music Center Jam Club.
