Carla Jayne
BIO/DESCRIPTION
Carla Jayne is an Alberta-based singer-songwriter and audio engineer. She writes and performs country/folk songs, inspired by her rural upbringing. While completing a Music degree at MacEwan University in Recording and Production, she has performed at many venues around Edmonton, including the Station on Jasper and the Aviary, and festivals such as Kaleido Festival and Skirtsafire Festival. Her FACTOR-funded debut EP is set for 2023 release.
As an audio engineer, Carla took part in the 2021 POPOPOPOPOP project in collaboration with the Mitchell Art Gallery. This varied project included teaching Grade 6 students the basics of recording over Zoom, as well as mixing, mastering, and composing audio pieces for the project. In 2022, she was guest curator for the subsequent POPOPOPOP audio-visual display in Allard Hall at MacEwan University. In 2020, Carla was awarded “Best Traditional Recording” in the University of Lethbridge’s Recording/Mixing Contest, amongst contestants from MacEwan University, University of Lethbridge, and Banff Centre for the Arts.
