Brother Ray Lemelin

BIO/DESCRIPTION

Born in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Ray Lemelin was raised in a family of musicians.
Ray has been part of the blood in the Alberta Blues scene for many years, playing with Clarence
“Gatemouth” Brown, Jimmy Payne, Tim Williams to name a few. He has played Festivals
throughout the country and in many recordings of fellow musicians.
Now, Ray is busy leading the Matinee Kings. He continues to teach and mentor which is
important as this is how the craft is learned and passed on.
He is credited with writing, producing and recording original albums, “Thangs”, “Here To Stay”,
“Kill Floor Sampler” (2 songs) then Hills and Lemelin’s “Neither Here Nor There”, named Album
of The Year by the Acoustic Underground Blues Network. In 2013 he won Guitar Player of The
Year from the CBMA Blues Awards. Most recently, his latest album, “Dark/Out of Phase” was
nominated as the Best Blues Album by the YYC Music Awards.
“Dark/Out of Phase” is his latest work of the heart about love and life lost and starting over.
