BIO/DESCRIPTION

Brian Sawatsky is a seasoned musician with over 30 years of experience in the music industry. Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Brian began playing guitar at the incredibly young age of three, taught by his mother, a talented bluegrass musician. Growing up in a musical household—his mother a bassist and guitarist, and his father a drummer and lead vocalist—Brian was immersed in music from the start.

At 15, he began performing with his family’s band, Gypsy Wheeler Band, and by 16, he had taken over management duties, handling bookings, communications, and live sound. His mother, Sarah, passed on her knowledge of the business side of music, helping him develop into not just a skilled performer, but a capable bandleader.

Brian’s guitar prowess earned him recognition early in his career, winning Best Guitar Player in Saskatchewan at age 18, along with a Fury guitar and a $2,000 prize. At 20, his band took first place in a Saskatchewan Music Association competition, winning recording time and a $5,000 cash prize.

In 2001, Brian moved to Calgary, Alberta, where he continues to pursue his passion for live music. He remains an active and dedicated figure in the local music scene, performing regularly and sharing his decades of experience on and off the stage.
