Alex Moxon

BIO/DESCRIPTION

Guitarist Alex Moxon is a fresh face in the Edmonton music scene. The Ottawa ex pat cut his teeth in Canada’s capital while performing with a who’s who of local and national talent, including Juno-winning artists Kellylee Evans and Angelique Francis, as well as HILOTRONS, Miguel De Armas, Roddy Ellias, Shawnee Kish, Iskwē, Michael Greilsammer, Kieran Overs, Petr Cancura, SOCALLED, Sivan Arbel, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and the National Arts Centre Orchestra. He has opened for the likes of Brian Charette, Bernie Worrell, Michael Winograd, Mother Mother, Kevin Drew, and Brian Blade. An up and comer on the world jazz stage, his debut record as a leader “Alex Moxon Quartet” has received international radio airplay and stellar reviews.

On Moxon’s first record, Peter Hum of The Ottawa Citizen says “[Moxon] blends shards of the blues, modal motifs and flashes of guitar wizardry.” Says Raul De Gama of The Whole Note, “Moxon is a shining example of what true musicality means.” “Overall, Alex Moxon Quartet delivers an experience that uplifts and excites listeners as it leads them along a path of varying emotional landscapes… Let it be an antidote for gloom and despair, and a reminder that the future will be a wonderful place,” says James Hale of Downbeat.

As of 2023 he continues to refine his artistic voice while producing new material in western Canada and beyond.
