Coalition Music (Canada’s music incubator), teams up with Alberta Music, to present their “Artist Entrepreneur Boot Camp” and music business panel, “From Self-Managed to Managed” in Edmonton and Calgary on April 25 & 26 2015, respectively.
The two-day professional development workshop, held at the Mercury Theatre (11315 - 106 Ave) in Edmonton, is a condensed version of Coalition Music’s 10-week Artist Entrepreneur program, which mentors aspiring artists to not only survive but to thrive in today’s music industry.
Coalition Music will survey and interview participating artists in the “Artist Entrepreneur Boot Camp” before they begin the program in order to gain a greater understanding of each artist’s general strategies, strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and needs. Coalition Music will identify key areas of focus and build action plans for the boot camp, giving each artist who participates in the program significant individual attention.
Topics covered in the boot camp include, establishing and running your business, revenue streams and funding, building your team, music licensing and sync placements and much more.
The application process is now over.
In addition to the “Artist Entrepreneur Boot Camp,” in Edmonton on April 25 and 26, things will move south to Calgary to include a music business panel at the National Music Centre entitled “From Self Managed to Managed,” on Sunday April 26 at 6:00PM, open to all Alberta Music members.
Facilitators of the “Artist Entrepreneur Boot Camp” and the “From Self Managed to Managed” panel will be:
• Eric Lawrence | Coalition Music Co-Founder
• Liam Killeen | Day-to-day manager of Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker, Faber Drive, These Kids Wear Crowns, Treble Charger, and Greig Nori
• Sean Kelly | Music industry veteran with 25-years of experience as an artist, touring guitar player and studio musician, songwriter, producer and author
One Bootcamp artist will be selected by Alberta Music and Coalition Music to receive a Bell Media Prize. The prize will cover all expenses for travel, accommodation and entrance into Canada’s Music Incubator’s 10-week Artist Entrepreneur professional development program in Toronto, running from August 11-October 16, 2015.
Coalition Music wants to give each artist who participates in this program significant individual attention. For this reason, the 2-day Bootcamp will be limited to 15 participants. If you are in a band, we would like only 1 band member (the one who does most of the day-to-day business) to attend the workshop.
