Jamie New Johnson is an artist and business manager based in Calgary,
Alberta, Canada. Jamie has been involved in the careers of Peak Performance
Project Alberta and British Columbia runner ups Sidney York and Gay Nineties,
and 2014 grand prize winners The Wet Secrets. Jamie is currently the primary

Jamie began her career working for a
small summer music festival and planning arts/music education programs in
Ontario’s cottage country, Muskoka. Within 2 years of earning her Bachelor’s
Degree in arts and culture studies from Brock University, Jamie became a business
communications college teacher and the operations manager of Toronto-based

MMF, Jamie worked with hundreds of renowned international artist managers (whose
rosters include Metric, Blue Rodeo, Our Lady Peace, Tegan & Sara, The
Trews, The Tragically Hip, Rush, etc), partnered with top industry companies,
associations, conferences and festivals, planned workshops and annual awards
ceremonies, and was an integral part of the overall growth of the organization.
It was during this time that Jamie decided she wanted to be more involved in
developing artist’s careers and spreading more information on the world of music
management and the music business.
In 2013 Jamie moved to Calgary to
enjoy the Western Canadian lifestyle and began providing management and
development services for businesses, brands and bands including Music Calgary,
Molson Coors, Alberta Music and more. She also launched her blog, SmartBandManagement.com, where she
shares tips and resources from her own experiences as a manager, and interviews
some of the most influential music industry experts.
