We Were Friends
BIO/DESCRIPTION
Clay Swanson (Lead Vocals, Guitar), MJ Cumine (Bass Guitar, Vocals), Amanda René (Percussion, Vocals), and Max Foerster (Guitar, Keys, Vocals) are We Were Friends. After a wide-roaming Canadian summer tour in 2015 with their debut EP, Let Them Howl, the Edmonton band is back with their sophomore EP, Little Infinity. Performing with acts like The Darcy’s, Rah Rah, Close Talker, and Royal Foundry, their amassed experience and collaborative song-writing process has reshaped their alternative pop-rock music into a more refined, mature, and rounded sound, lending them a full-bodied, identifiable style.
Their Sophomore EP, Little Infinity, is inspired by author and filmmaker John Green’s fascination with the infinity of numbers between 0 and 1 (0.11, 0.111, 0.11111…) and delicately examines the little things in life that grow exponentially as well as the big ones that wither slowly to almost nothing. Here, the burden of love, turmoil, and experiences both big and small —our little infinities— all come to play. We Were Friends’ music combines gritty, powerful lyrics with dramatic, guitar-driven melodies to examine the little things in life as well as the big; the burdens of love, of inner turmoil and intimate, personal experience.
