Master Percussionist Tilo Paiz has been playing professionally for more than 50 years, at age 14 in El Salvador. Since coming to Canada in 1990, Tilo has performed and recorded with some of Canada’s best artists such as Tommy Banks, PJ Perry, Bob Stroup, Pavlo, Gaye Delorme, Sandro Dominelli and Shelley Jones. Besides performing at major events such as Edmonton Jazz City, 2001 IAAF Games, Calgary Blues Festival, and Edmonton Fringe, Tilo has worked on many recordings such as the Juno-nominated “Cafe Varze”, winner of a Western Music Award. Tilo recognized in 2003 for his contribution to Edmonton’s music community, and in 2019 he received the highest honour from the Salvadorean government in recognition of his remarkable music career.
