Suzanne de Bussac
BIO/DESCRIPTION
Suzanne de Bussac is a Canadian musician, songwriter, recording artist, producer and educator. After years in the Toronto music scene, Suzanne returned to her home town of Calgary and returned to public performance in 2015 with a Cabaret show called Brake…Clutch…Accelerate! , a fundraiser concert for Alberta Children’s Hospital mental health unit. She has been performing consistently since and enjoying connecting with the vibrant live music community in Calgary.
Her sophomore release SHIVER STORIES is an eclectic combination of post punk pop and neoclassical cabaret, taking listeners on a journey through a fantastical wonderland of aural landscapes and thought provoking subject matter. Produced by de Bussac and co-producer/guitarist Dean Drouillard (Amelia Curran, Buffy Ste Marie), the album features de Bussac on piano, acoustic guitar and accordion, and former bandmates Mark Mariash -drums (Good Lovelies, Royal Wood, Buffy Ste Marie), Todd Lumley- keys (Hawksley Workman, Alan Doyle, Waltons), Paul Vienneau – bass (Hopping Penguiins, Carlos Del Junco). Background vocals and strings recorded in Calgary with Arran Fisher (Woodpigeon, Lucky Sonne), and Aleksandra Danicic on Violin and Zak Keller on Cello. SHIVER STORIES is scheduled for release in 2018.
Suzanne can be found regularly at jams around Calgary and performs shows as often as possible. Her live shows feature a combination of her quirky original songs with a peppering of Cabaret Noir from Toronto’s infamous Kevin Quain. de Bussac performs solo with her piano, guitar and accordion, or with her band. Always fun!
