Rebecca Lappa

BIO/DESCRIPTION

Rebecca Lappa’s fearless fusion of pop, rock, and folk, has her cresting the wave of Canada’s best contemporary singer songwriters. Her crackling compositions filled with catchy hooks, beautiful melodies, limitless vocal delivery, and clever lyrics have captured Lappa three 2019 Edmonton Music Awards nominations, winning Singer Songwriter Re-cording of the Year. Touring across Canada since the release of her JSR funded full length record “Reckless Heart”, she’s entranced audiences at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Calgary Folk Fest, Canmore Folk Fest, and the Ottawa Blues Festival. Lappa is honoured to have shared the stage with the likes of: The Crash Test Dummies, Jenn Grant, Digging Roots, Reignwolf, Basia Bulat, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Mike Plume, Maria Dunn and Leeroy Stagger. In summer 2019, Lappa released her “Unfilitered” EP and performed at the Beaumont Blues Festival, Whitecourt Music Festival, Taste of Calgary, Mardigras Festival, Edmonton Rock Music Festival, and participated in the Canadian Songwriter Challenge at the Audio Department. Working with manager Mandy Wheel-wright, Lappa is using an Edmonton Arts Council grant to record her most personal songs to date with producer Louise Burns of 604 Records. This Canadian Folk Music Awards and multiple Edmonton Music Awards winner is an emerging Canadian talent who is clearly “one to watch”.
“Remember when Serena Ryder was just starting to gain international acclaim? When people would see her play a small gig and say, “She’s going to go some-where?” That’s where Edmonton’s own Rebecca Lappa is at right now. With her singular take on folk rock, she’s dangling on the precipice of becoming a house-hold, Western Canadian name.” .Stephan Boissonneault, Vue Weekly, August 2018
