Notas de 4

BIO/DESCRIPTION
Notas de 4 is Calgary’s original Latin Jazz ensemble, winner of Best World Recording of the year 2020 by YYC MUSIC Awards and was nominated twice for WCMA as Global Artist of the year 2021 & 2022. Recently the group has released their 2nd album “Cosas Maravillosas” (Wonderful Things) with a SOLD OUT show at the King Eddy on March 25th that was covered by CBC Alberta and Key of A.
The ensemble’s original compositions are inspired from Flamenco, Latin Jazz and traditional music from Cuba and Mexico. The band released their first full-length album “Rosas y Lirios” (Roses & Lilies) in September 2019 thanks to the help of AFFA and FACTOR Canada.
Their performance has been described as Intense, edgy and dreamy; a reimagination of Latin music composed in a uniquely Canadian landscape.
The group has performed in notable sold-out stages including the Central Library by Jazz YYC, National Music Centre by Casa Mexico, Chinook Blast Festival, Arts Commons, ArtXpeditions, TEDxCalgary Talk Music, Lolita’s Lounge, Pro-Arts Noon Series, The Junction and Expo Latino in several years, “Big Secret Theatre”, and most recently Manitoba Showcase 2022, Folk Music Ontario and Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta and the Aga Khan Museum Duende Festival in the fall of 2023.
