YYC based Melyssa Lee writes music that invokes intrigue and vivid imagery. Drawing inspiration from folk roots and the emotive energy of the Lilith era, her songs are a blend of warmth, vulnerability and strength.
Lee’s vocals are tender yet soul-stirring crescendos in the style of Sarah McLachlan, Dido and Dolores O’Riordan; weaving stories of parentage, parenthood, love and being Canadian.
After experiencing positive success with her debut acoustic EP, her debut album Treasures dropped in May of 2024, joined for the first time by her band “Education Party”.
Together, Melyssa Lee and Education Party play the songs amidst a sonic playground that augments the music’s core. Their innovative sound combines traditional folk instruments with fresh and modern Chapman stick, synth and electronic rock elements.
