Smoky vocals curl seductively out of the guitar-forward, ethereal, psychedelia that is Kue Varo and the Only Hopes. From a bubbling cauldron are extracted a potion comprised of equal parts cowboy and witchcraft, hints of mystics and heirlooms. Be careful: it’s beautifully sinister and inescapably tempting. Catchy melody and lucent lyric have conspired to light your imagination on fire. Another sip and the hooks sink in deeper. A frighteningly precise band leans into the tension, tightening the nuts and bolts holding together these dreams of songs. As Varo’s vocals spiral endlessly upwards into the dark night sky, luminescent tracers trail behind, filling the air with light and wonder. Nothing can stop Kue Varo and the Only Hopes now.

Kue Varo lassoed together “The Only Hopes” who formed a band in 2022. Since then they have recorded and released 3 singles leading to the eventual release of their full-length album “Cowboy Witchcraft” with Juno Award-winning producer Russell Broom.

They have played festivals such as, Sled Island, Big Winter Classic, and are set to play Calgary’s folk fest Block Heater at the Palace Theatre in Feb of 2024.
A month after its release, Cowboy Witchcraft rose to the #1 spot in the top 30 charts for CKUA radio. They have been reviewed by Exclaim! And made it into the top 50 albums of 2023 via Read Range Magazine.
