Keltie Kit Monaghan
BIO/DESCRIPTION
Keltie Kit Monaghan is a singer-songwriter from Edmonton, Alberta whose poignant lyricism and raspy vocals create a magnetic and empowering sound. With influences from songwriters such as Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Emily Haines, their genre can best be described as alternative folk inspired by Canadian classics. Their debut EP “Everything I Haven’t Said”, recorded with Juno award-winning producer, Russell Broom, has found success on Spotify and Apple Music, and has been played on radio stations across Canada including CBC Radio. The EP would reach #1 on iTunes Top Selling Singer-songwriter Albums in Canada in autumn of 2017. The momentum would continue for the EP’s lead single “Someone Tell Her”, getting nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award in the Young Performer of the Year category in 2017 and winning the Rising Star Award at the Edmonton Music Awards in 2018. Cataloging their experiences of queer love in a prairie town and the bittersweetness that often comes with it, their latest single “Sweet Prairie Daydream” was recorded and produced with Jonah Morris of Jed and the Valentine, and Amanda Penner, who aided in bringing the song’s ruminative soundscape to life.
