BIO/DESCRIPTION
Juno-nominated guitarist Jim Head has worked with such acclaimed jazz artists as Maria Schneider, Sheila Jordan, Tim Hagans, Bob Mintzer, Ralph Bowen, Gil Goldstein, Kirk McDonald, David Virelles, PJ Perry, Jane Bunnett, Myron Walden, Gene Bertoncini, Steve Slagle, Eddie Daniels, Lew Tabackin, John O’Gallagher, Johannes Weidenmueller, Bob Sheppard, and many others. He has performed in clubs, concerts, and festivals across Canada, as well as China, Mexico, and the U.S.A. He has appeared on over 30 recordings, including two as a leader: Mind’s Eye, released in 2006, and his 2015 Juno award-nominated release, Zoetrope.
In addition to his performing career, Jim is an assistant professor in the Jazz and Contemporary Music program at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada, where he has been the guitar department head since 2007.
