Eric Doucet

BIO/DESCRIPTION

Eric Doucet is a professional musician based in Edmonton, Alberta. Having chosen music as his primary pursuit, he is currently enrolled as a Piano/Keyboard Performance Major in MacEwan University’s Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music. He is often seen and heard on stages around Edmonton and beyond performing with various groups. Eric is the founder and co-leader of experimental band High Tides, as well as keyboardist in funk-soul band Carter & the Capitals and jazz-fusion band Cardioid. Eric is also heard on recent recordings by singer-songwriters Brooke Woods, Paul Cournoyer, Bryan Coffey, and Sierra Jamerson. He is just as active in French, English or instrumental music, which affords him the opportunity to play in an impressive breadth of styles. He has shared the stage with many world-renowned artists, including Simple Plan, Chantal Kreviazuk, GoGo Penguin and Damien Robitaille. Eric has performed all across Canada in such illustrious venues as the Francis Winspear Centre, the Eric Harvie Theatre at the Banff Centre, and the Yardbird Suite. He has also performed under the auspices of several festivals, such as the Edmonton International Jazz Festival, NextFest, Franco-fête de l’Acadie and Edmonton Chante.

Eric is available for hire as a pianist and keyboardist for all occasions. He is also an experienced educator and semi-competent singer, saxophonist, percussionist and sound engineer.
Eric Doucet est un musicien professionnel basé à Edmonton, Alberta. Ayant choisi la musique comme discipline principale, il étudie présentement en Interprétation de Piano/Claviers au sein du programme de Baccalauréat de Musique Jazz et Pop Contemporaine à l’Université MacEwan. On le retrouve souvent sur les scènes d’Edmonton et au-delà comme claviériste pour divers groupes. Eric est co-leader et fondateur du groupe expérimental High Tides et claviériste du groupe de funk-soul Carter & the Capitals et de jazz-fusion Cardioid. On peut aussi l’entendre sur les enregistrements récents de multiples auteur-compositeur-interprètes, dont Paul Cournoyer, Brooke Woods, Bryan Coffey et Sierra Jamerson. Il est tout aussi actif en français qu’en anglais ou en musique instrumentale, ce qui le permet une marge de manoeuvre impressionnante de styles à aborder. Il a d’ailleurs partagé la scène avec plusieurs artistes de renom dont Simple Plan, Chantal Kreviazuk, Damien Robitaille et Radio Radio. Eric a livré des performances à travers le Canada dans d’illustres salles de concert, dont le Centre Francis Winspear, le Théâtre Eric Harvie au Banff Centre et le Yardbird Suite. Il s’est aussi produit sous les auspices de plusieurs festivals de renom, dont le Festival International de Jazz d’Edmonton, le Festival du Voyageur, la Franco-fête de l’Acadie et Edmonton Chante.

Eric est disponible comme pianiste et claviériste pour toutes occasions. Il est aussi un pédagogue chevronné, ainsi qu’un chanteur, saxophoniste, percussionniste et ingénieur de son semi-compétent.
