DIZZY WALKA is a Hip-Hop artist residing in Calgary, AB. Born and raised in Botswana, has been actively songwriting since the age of 12. A few of his inspirations include Drake, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Rod Wave and Roddy Ricch.
Right Here, Right Now is his latest studio project. His sophomore EP shares a story about how the loss of his dad has impacted his journey and grind. “This EP is designed to inspire people to persevere regardless of the hand they are dealt. I want the listener to draw inspiration from how I’ve embraced my losses. We can’t control many events in our life, but we control how we react and respond to these events.”
Despite the grief, Dizzy celebrates his father’s life, shared memories, and influence. Dizzy was initially inspired to pursue music in 2014 after seeing a classmate in grade 6 freestyle. He wanted to be in control and validated after feeling defeated by bullies throughout his childhood. Following the loss of his dad in 2020, he promised to share his story and message with the world shamelessly. Today, he is honing in on his craft and sacrifices generic music topics to help comfort those dealing with life’s punches. “My music is the medium for those actively seeking light at the end of the tunnel.”
Dizzy has been pursuing the music industry professionally for eight years and counting. Over the years, his music has been played on radio stations across Alberta, including CBC, CJSW, CKXU and MRU programs. With over 50,000 streams, sold out performances at some of Calgary’s top venues (BMO Centre, Commonwealth, Ship & Anchor, Rec Room, Broken City and Junction) and taking on community projects such as the Black History Month celebrations at St. Francis High School, Dizzy continues to connect with the community through his music to encourage those overcoming life’s challenges.
