Dahlia Wakefield
BIO/DESCRIPTION
The lyric ‘a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll’ could have been written about eclectic singer songwriter Dahlia Wakefield in the past. Her roots may have been in country but are now firmly planted in rock.
She has recently transitioned to hard rock/metal and her new single “Poison”, a cover of Alice Cooper’s
1989 hit, shows the complexity her voice is exactly capable of.
The song also features Glen Sobel, who is Alice Cooper’s current touring drummer.
Produced by Corey Johnson, the song follows her 2021 solo AC release “Visiting Hours”, and her well received 2020 country rock single “You Don’t Get to Win”, both released on her independent record label, Squirrelly Girl Music but this time in association with Catalyst Records. The hard working musician/Grant MacEwan grad/vocal coach is also a
member of the Dirt Road Angels, Dahlia & The Villains, The Dahlia & Alan Duo, Brigade – her Heart Tribute band, and most recently with metal cover band SHOCKER. She also sings solo at retirement homes.
Dahlia’s musical influences are vast – from ABBA to Led Zeppelin, from Amanda Marshall to Judas Priest. Dahlia’s rich, powerful voice and eclectic style allows her music to fit comfortably into almost any play-list or program, but is now confidently forging ahead into a brand new territory: hard rock/metal.
