BirdBelly (formerly Cynthia Hamar)

BIO/DESCRIPTION
With a foundation in folk and Americana, BirdBelly’s music blends string-rich arrangements, atmospheric textures, and emotionally direct songwriting. Her 2025 album The Wind The Wood represents a powerful turning point — a sonic and personal expansion shaped by motherhood, prairie landscapes, and years of artistic growth. Produced by Paul Johnston and supported by provincial arts funding, the record has charted nationally and garnered support from CKUA and campus radio across Canada.
A graduate of MacEwan University’s Recording & Production program, Hamar brings both artistic and technical fluency to her work. Whether performing in intimate listening rooms or larger theatre settings, BirdBelly delivers performances that feel grounded, vulnerable, and quietly commanding.
Based in Alberta, she continues to tour, mentor emerging artists, and build a body of work defined by courage, craft, and heart.
