Brandi Sidoryk

BIO/DESCRIPTION

Brandi Sidoryk is a songwriter, vocalist, bassist, and artist from Calgary, AB. After completing her Masters of Music degree in Classical Voice from the University of Melbourne, Brandi transitioned to working professionally as an artist, freelance musician, and songwriter, in styles varying from indie pop to math rock to country. Her current primary performing project is the all-female, Calgary-based, CCMA-aaward winning duo Nice Horse.

Brandi’s songs have been placed in numerous TV programs, film, and commercials, including the theme song for the very popular Korean drama series “Hello, My Twenties,” syndicated on Netflix. As a primary writer for Nice Horse, her songs have twice won Country Music Recording of the Year at the YYC Music Awards (2018, 2021), and Single of the Year at the County Music Alberta Awards (2021); and she was a co-writer on “Cowgirl,” Nice Horse’s first top 30 single on the Canadian Country radio charts. As a writer, she has written with songwriting greats such as Ed Hill (Martina McBride, George Strait, Luke Bryan), Rob Wells (Justin Bieber, The Backstreet Boys), Carolyn Dawn Johnson (Patty Loveless, Jo Dee Messina), David Mescon (Nicki Minaj) and many more. She was a featured songwriter as part of the 2019 CCMA Songwriter Series, and was the Calgary Public Library Songwriter in Residence in 2020.

Aside from her career as a professional songwriter, Brandi is a musician for the Royal Canadian Navy (on French Horn, bass, and vocals), and was recently awarded a Royal Canadian Navy Commendation for creating an online music training program for the Naval Reserve during the pandemic, which led to innovations in Canadian Armed Forces training. She has one two CCMA awards: one for Bass Player of the Year, and another for Video of the Year, for a video she co-directed and co-edited with bandmate Krista Wodelet.

She is also co-creator of BANDIE, a comprehensive scheduling app for DIY artists, which released mid- 2023. Brandi currently tours heavily with Nice Horse and is a sought-after live production coach and freelance performing/session musician.
