Program Manager – Job Description
Reports to:Â Â Â Executive Director
Location:Â Â Â Â Â Edmonton or Calgary, AB. Alberta Music has offices in both cities therefore
             candidates from either location will be considered.
Type:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Full-Time
Salary:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â $45,000+ commensurate with experience. Health benefit package available.
Start Date:Â Â Â Â December 3, 2024 (flexible)
ABOUT ALBERTA MUSIC
Alberta Music is a non-profit, service-based association dedicated to helping professionals in the music industry to succeed in their careers. We are member-based, representing members in all facets of the music industry, including artists, managers, songwriters, studios, venues and beyond. Through our programs and services, we provide information, education, advocacy and industry opportunities to develop and promote the growth and sustainability of the Alberta music industry.
Alberta Music provides several services including Professional Development through our Backstage Pass program which includes workshops, panel discussions, consultations and seminars with leading industry professionals locally and across the globe. Our export program Livestock provides domestic and international showcasing opportunities such as Reeperbahn (Germany), Americanca (USA & UK) , M for Montreal (Quebec), The Great Escape (UK) and others.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an outgoing individual with excellent administrative, time management and project planning skills. This individual will have the confidence and capacity to make decisions, manage information and prepare plans, timelines, budget, funding proposals, and reports.
The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of the independent music industry in Canada and abroad and has an appreciation for working as part of a collaborative (small) team. The ideal candidate is aware of musician and music industry professionals’ needs, current trends, enjoys attending live shows, networking with musicians and industry professionals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management:
- Identify goals, needs, and objectives, and develop delivery plans for Alberta Music’s programs;
- Manage the logistics of Alberta Music’s programming including management of program budgets, resources and supervision of support staff and third-party contractors;
- Develop materials such as guidelines, forms, communications and marketing;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the programs and report results to stakeholders;
- With support from the ED, write grants, proposals and final reports and build budgets to secure program funding;
- Consultations with members regarding career development and funding applications;
- Liaise with other organizations and develop partnerships where possible;
- Represent Alberta Music at locals, national, and international events.
Administrative:
- Coordinate accounts payables for programs;
- Track and report on program successes and industry impacts;
- Prepare narrative and financial reports as needed.
Experience & Competencies:
- Experience in project management or administration within the music industry;
- Knowledge/ awareness of both musician and music industry professionals’ need, along with current trends in an ever-changing industry;
- Ability to maintain effective workflows, systems and processes;
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal;
- Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, Google Workspace would be an asset;
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on deadlines and proficiency;
- Experience in social media, marketing and promotion as it pertains to the music sector;
- Possesses problem-solving skills;
- Receptive to feedback;
- Experience in supervising a team;
- Demonstrates professional conduct;
- A valid passport and the ability to cross international borders.
This is a full-time position with a benefits package, dependent on annual funding. Our regular office hours are 9:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. We have a hybrid workplace model with time in our Edmonton or Calgary office and support for remote work.
This position will require evening and weekend work as well as domestic and international travel. Employees will earn time off in lieu..
