Apply for Alberta Focus, a program that includes an Alberta Music Showcase and one-on-one meetings with international delegates!
The Alberta Focus showcase puts Alberta’s finest, export-ready artists in front of international music industry professionals from the US, and across Europe and the UK. This showcase is an excellent opportunity for Alberta Music members to build on their networks here at home and also with the international community. This years delegates include representatives from Music Memphis, Tapete Records, and Kumpels & Friends.
Four (4) export ready artists will be selected to participate in a showcase in Calgary on Monday, September 23rd, 2024 and one-on-one meetings with international delegates the following day (Tuesday, September 24th in the morning). A small travel honorarium will be available to artists residing in Alberta but outside of Calgary city limits.
To be considered for this opportunity, you must:
Have a current or upcoming release (demo / EP / full-length) within February 2023 – March 2025
Be export-ready (able to capitalize on opportunities in Canada and internationally)
Be an Alberta Music member and current resident of Alberta
Be available on Monday, September 23rd AND Tuesday, September 24th to perform, attend meetings and networking events in Calgary, AB
Submissions will be evaluated by an external jury based on:
Creative submission
Export readiness and plan
Rationale for attending the showcase
Previous export experience / history
This is a Pre-BreakOut West event; Artists do NOT need to be accepted into BreakOut West to apply. Successful applicants do need to be a member in good standing with Alberta Music.
